Pure Punjabi + Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance
Our next pop-up restaurant food event…a delicious hand-made North Indian menu and event experience, based upon the system of Langar and Seva of the Sikh religion.
What is Langar?
It is an inspiring practice based upon communal kitchen of the Sikh religion, funded and run by its own community to ensure everyone in the community, and anyone in need, receives a nutrionally complete meal every day.
What is Seva?
Seva is service – the giving of service voluntary, whether by physical labour or donations, to ensure that the system of Langar is self-fullfilling and perpetually in practice across every Sikh temple throughout the world, on a daily basis.
Join us for this Pure Punjabi food event, in collaboration with Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, and come and sample a variety of dhals and sabji (vegtable curry), with rice and Naan bread, to see how a vegetarian diet offers plenty of choice and great taste.
Punjab is a farmland region, and therefore, a major food producing region of India. The variety of pulses, grains, vegetables and crops grown in the area is huge, and Punjabi is known as the ‘bread basket ‘ of India. The food of Langar is always vegetarian and is nutrtionally balanced and complete.
During and after your lunch you can experience the system of voluntary service that is given on an equally remarkable level by the amazing volunteers from Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. Come and meet the teams and you will have the opportunity to see one of the life-saving vehicles, and learn more about the incredible work done by Air Ambulance, funded entirely on donations with no Government funding.

About Air Ambulance
Since March 2000, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance has been there for critically ill and injured people when they need us the most. With no direct funding from the Government or the National Lottery, we rely on the generosity of the public for support. Our operational costs are over £5 million a year and the approximate cost of one mission is £3,000. The enhanced skills of our team, specialist equipment and drugs that we carry, along with the speed of our response, can make the difference between life and death.
