Our Indian breads are eaten as accompaniments to various dishes.
Roti (Chapatti)
Roti (chapatti), is the daily bread of the North Indian Indian household and is made from wholewheat flour. It accompanies all types of dhal and sabjhi (vegetable curries).
Roti is actually quite difficult to make, despite the simplicity of being made simply from wheat flour and water.
The dough is quite sticky and can be a challenge and each stage can be tricky to perfect, however, Roti is the basis of the other Indian flatbreads of Puri and Paratha, and therefore worth persevering to master.
Naan bread
Naan bread is traditionally eaten with Tandoori chicken and is not eaten daily. It is a heavier, more luxurious bread which is eaten for special occasions. Once the basic naan has been perfected, then there are many varieties of stuffed naan that can be enjoyed.

Makki di Roti, (Corn chapatti)
Makki di roti is the corn chapatti that is rarely seen outside the traditional Punjabi home.
This is traditionally eaten with Saag, the dish of spinach, mustard leaves and fenugreek and this combination is the hearty fare of Punjabi farmers.
